Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet at Cadogan Hall

Trout Quintet at Cadogan

Last night I joined fellow students at the Cadogan Hall as part of the Royal College of Music’s “Rising Stars” concert series. Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet is always a pleasure to re-visit and I enjoy unwrapping it a little more each time it comes round. Schubert wrote this piece on a summer holiday in upper Austria for friends and I feel the music reflects his summer high-spirits. He wrote it at the age of 22 but it was not published until a year after his death meaning that it remained amongst friends throughout his life. I have been lucky enough to continue this tradition.
